Song: "Love is a House" Force MD's

I kept watch
Looked out for him
Waiting to see him
Over sugary Saturday morning doughnuts
Room temperature orange juice
Long dark passage ways
Beneath Old Cabel Hall
Mean ole teachers
Melted when the Lousia Boy came 'round.
So did I.
I fell in love
I've been in love
Since I was 14.
Every other Saturday
And all summer long
He hung out with them older boys
Played ball
And when THEY wouldn't let a sistah in
"Come on lil sissa,
I got you."
I've been in love
Since I was 14
Because he kept watch for me.

I stood watching
The steps step
The syncopation of stomps and claps
Shouts and calls
They all seemed connected
Togethter
One.
They had colors
And symbols
And letters
And I had none.
But I did,
...but not like those.
Didn't miss it.
Didn't want it.
But i did.
"Come on lil sissa
I got you."
He took me away
To Godwin that day
And gave me the sissa-hood I wanted.
We were a ball bouncing
B-Fine troop.
The boys wearin' ALL the letters
Or no letters at ALL
Came to watch us hoop.
Even when my "he"
Became a "she"
He loved me
Still.
And I loved him through college
Because he kept watch for me.

When I couldn't stand
He carried me.
When I fell over
He picked me up
Slung my arms over his shoulders...
('member that night?)
"Come on lil sissa
I got you."

I stand watch
Over my brother
While he sleeps
For 25 years he did that for me.
He loved me strong.
He loved me safe.

I stand watch
Over my brother
While he loves.
Celebrating his smile
And twinkling eyes
When joy lights them bright.

I stand watch
Over my brother
When he hurts.
Giving him a shoulder
and loving arms when he cries.

I stand watch
Over my brother
Because he has given me that to me
25 years of moon phases
And sun days
"Come on lil sissa
I got you."

25 years of love
I can never repay
But only say
"Here I come big brotha
I got you too."
